What is your role at The Tibbetts Group?
“I’m BFC’s Key Account Manager, mainly for aerospace and automotive customers, but I also work with some industrial customers.
“I help to answer customer queries, ensure that orders are loaded, maintain our reporting processes and more.”
How long have you worked at The Tibbetts Group?
“It’ll be 38 years working for BFC in June.”
What encouraged you to go into this career?
“When I was 15 and left school, I went for an interview here and was quickly persuaded to be involved in the fastener world. 38 years later, I’m still enjoying it!
“During that time, I’ve overseen BFC’s development from supplying standard fasteners, to going into the aerospace and automotive industries, being a big part of that. That’s been the biggest challenge, and a very rewarding one.”
Are there any significant projects which you are currently working on?
“For one of our big automotive customers, we’re becoming their sole supplier. That’s a big project. We’re also growing another one of our valued customers around the world.
“I also enjoy helping new colleagues, providing some of my knowledge when they join the business.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I enjoy being a football referee. I’ve done that for over 20 years, and I still do it on a Sunday morning.
“I also enjoy watching my local football team Wycombe Wanderers. I go to the home games most Saturdays. I used to travel to away games, but not so much as I’ve gotten older and life is more hectic.
“Swimming and reading are two hobbies which I enjoy too.”
What is your favourite film or television genre?
“Recently, I’ve enjoyed watching Gladiator. The original was fantastic – I keep meaning to watch the recent sequel!”
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
“That’s the Greek Islands. I’ve visited a few, and I love that they’re so chilled, so relaxing, have great weather, blue sea, and are warm.
“Greek people are so friendly; it’s such a relaxing place to go.”
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
“I’ve always wanted to do a bungee jump, but I’ve never got around to it. My brother did it a couple of years back, and he enjoyed it.”
