BFC Quality Engineer x 1 – Stokenchurch
We are currently looking to recruit a BFC Quality Engineer to be based in Stokenchurch. This position will report directly to the Group Engineering Manager.

Role Overview:
To manage the BFC Engineering function and team – responsible for the process of development, testing, inspection and approval of all products sourced by BFC. Maintaining both strong customer and supplier relations, the Quality Engineer will work closely with the Sales and Purchasing departments to ensure the integrity of product quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the Inspection/Engineering team to ensure the product approval process remains in line with the business requirements of range and cost
- Lead the Engineering team to provide product assurance through the GRN inspection process ensuring conformity to specification
- Improve quality of purchased parts through liaison with Sales and Purchasing
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure agreed quality requirements are met
- Actioning of 8D investigations, customer complaints and resolution of them
- Raising product specification issues/claims with suppliers and holding them responsible where appropriate
- Responsible for part number creation for BFC, and ensuring the correct paperwork requirements, technical drawings etc are set up
- Support the SQA and Compliance Manager with commodity code process
- Final inspection of deliveries prior to despatch/where required
- Ownership of PPAP and FAI reporting process
- Maintenance of product sampling and gauge calibration programme
- Responsible for all engineering non-saleable stock locations, conducting internal quarantine and scrap reviews
- Support colleagues on product quality matters
- Management of internal quality KPIs and metrics
Skills and Experience Required:
- Ideally the candidate will have experience in the fastener and fixing industry
- Expected to have an HNC/HND or above qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Previous experience in reporting, investigating and closing out quality issues, practical problem-solving skills
- Has led or supervised a small team
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Proven experience in customer/supplier facing role
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office, mainly Excel
- Expected to be familiar with mechanical measuring techniques and be able to use electrical and mechanical measuring equipment
